THE POWER OF INTENTION!
Does this sound familiar? Life has passed us by. We are now in our twilight years. There are many regrets - most of them silent, unsaid, hidden and deep secrets - that keep mowing into our subconscious minds and even deeper into our very souls.
Some of us have lived comfortably; others not so much ... this is fate, Qadr as we call it!
But as things stand - modern life can be harsh. Many times, we live in a constant state of overwhelm and then frequently we have a tendency to overthink absolutely everything… we draw back and detach, only allowing ourselves to think about the very next thing on our list.
Or we get so caught up in the cycle of overthinking so much that we never stop long enough to actually DO anything!
Before we even realize it, years pass - life is like a river: it flows on in spite of the situations we are in...
And in no time, we realise - Life has already happened to us!
We haven’t been living an intentional life, and we barely even noticed. They call it the rat race! Some term it as "The Daily Grind." Others are in an even deeper abyss - those who call it their "ominous fate."
Whatever the semantics - life has happened and even that, in what seems like a fleeting moment - just a few short years which have passed by like some seconds or a little longer!
But lose not hope! It's not too late. It's never too late!
So, let us critique ourselves … WHY are we not living intentionally?
Maybe we’re afraid of the future
When we allow ourselves to overthink every little thing, we live in perpetual fear of what might happen in the future. The uncertainty of the future!
That means - and more often than not - we ruin our present… either by trying NOT to think or by living so safely that we never try anything exciting or truly meaningful.
It’s natural to be a little afraid, because there’s no way of knowing exactly what will happen in the future. (But always keep in mind that HE IS IN CONTROL! )
However, living an intentional life means working to overcome your fears and pursue your passion and purpose in life - with full trust in God (Tawakaltu-al-ALLAH).
Or maybe we don’t face our failures
As much as we hate failures, they are a part of our lives. We cannot totally avoid them, but we can become more intentional about how we deal with them; how we respond to them as opposed to how we react to situations and failures or hiccups or drawbacks.
Failures are like opportunities that we must learn from to improve. That goes for our personal lives AND our professional lives.
The Way Forward?
So, when you wake up in the morning; start by thanking HIM. Then make the intentions of the day clear. Maybe journal them down onto a piece of paper or on your mobile phone app (as I do often) ... This will give not only purpose to the day - but eventually purpose to our whole lives!
Now, what we write is not the divine law that we will have written down like the Ten Commandments - but a guideline to live by, to aspire to!
Don't be too hard upon yourself - but try every action you take to be an intentional action. An action with a stated intention (and add to it - so help me God!)
Be it brushing your teeth, or making your bed (yes, yes - you must make your bed everyday - don't wait for your partner or house help to do it for you!) or having breakfast or praying or exercising or anything - BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT IT!
Someone once quoted' "....... The purpose in a person’s life doesn’t have to be great achievements or Nobel prizes or Accolades or Appreciation from others. You can be living just a good, honest and simple life.' - AND I AGREE FULLY!
